“For some time, a right shoulder injury had been restricting my golf swing and tennis serve. I had received physio and acupuncture from several sources over the course of 2 years, but no treatment had proved successful. I decided to ask Steve if he could help, hoping that his Osteopathic knowledge and Personal Training experience could combine to improve my right shoulder function.
Steve initially diagnosed my shoulder injury and started a program of weekly rehab sessions. The results of a subsequent MRI scan and consultant appointments proved that Steve’s assumptions had been entirely accurate and that his treatment to that point had been appropriate.
The focus of Steve’s treatment was to strengthen all the muscles surrounding the complex shoulder joint, using weights, resistance bands, Swiss ball stretches and other techniques. At no point was the shoulder joint overloaded and to ensure consistency, all treatment was applied both to the good left shoulder, as well as to the injured right shoulder.
When we agreed it was appropriate, Steve was able to apply his Sports Massage skills to my back, neck and shoulders which in all cases enhanced blood flow around my injured shoulder and greatly improved my range of movement.
When Steve started introducing narrow, centre and wide push up tests after about 2-3 months, the improvement in my shoulder function became very much apparent. With continued weekly sessions, the stability of the shoulder continued to improve steadily and any incidence of impingement pain began to reduce significantly.
Nine months on from Steve’s initial diagnosis, my shoulder is back to full and pain free function with the added benefit of a stronger core and much improved rotation that I can apply to my golf swing and tennis serve. I put this down to Steve’s extensive Osteopathic knowledge, his Sports Massage abilities and his years of experience training himself and others in the gym.
I would recommend Steve to anyone in recovery from injury or wishing to strengthen any element of their body, whether for golf, tennis or any other aspect of life.”
“I started formal fitness training and joined a gym in 1986 (when I was 39). It had become clear to me that without taking some action I would risk not being able to indulge in and enjoy the sporting activities I liked not to mention likely deterioration in health, fitness and strength which frankly I had really just taken for granted.
I was reasonably conscientious, but it took some years to feel fully comfortable in the gym environment and start to mature in purpose and choice of fitness regime.
Happily, I started to train with Steve, and this has served to embrace my expectations with regard to my health and fitness goals.
This has involved a continuous progression and educational approach that has positively both changed and enhanced my lifestyle.
Steve’s informed approach and motivational ability coupled with technical proficiency and enthusiasm has improved my strength, flexibility, balance and posture markedly.
We have successfully employed corrective techniques for injury rehabilitation, and I have in turn developed a greater depth of understanding in all areas of health and fitness.
There is an ongoing “feelgood” factor which is testimony to Steve’s craft and professionalism. This makes for a very rewarding experience on many levels.”
